How Should We Give? - Matthew 6:1-4 (Sermon on the Mount Series)
Tuesday May 24, 2022
Tuesday May 24, 2022
When we grasp our relationship with God as our Father and rest securely in His care and love, it will change what we do and why we do it. We will not be looking for the approval of men but only of God, and there is where we receive the greatest reward that isn't lost because it is done out of love for our Father in Heaven, and He has seen it, and He will reward us.

Tuesday Apr 26, 2022
We are to be imitators of Jesus who is God incarnate and we are to reflect his image to a lost and dying world. One way we do that is by loving our enemies

Have We No Rights? - Matthew 5:38-42 (Sermon on the Mount Series)
Tuesday Mar 22, 2022
Tuesday Mar 22, 2022
Today, we live in a culture all about self and our rights and self-esteem. Jesus desires those of us in Christ not to be self-focused and not to take offense so quickly that we immediately seek retaliation.
Our hope is to have our eyes so focused on Christ and who we are in Christ and our purpose and mission that we don't let insults or criticism bother or thwart our mission.

I don't know about you, but I don't always take correction well initially. Usually, I come around, but sometimes it takes me much longer than it should. Pride is such an ugly sin, isn't it??

Tell the Truth - Matthew 5:33-37 (Sermon on the Mount Series)
Tuesday Jan 25, 2022
Tuesday Jan 25, 2022
Jesus calls us to be people of the truth and people who keep their word. We need to be people whose yes is yes and whose no is no.
Matthew 5:33-37:
"Again you have heard that it was said to those of old, 'You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform to the Lord what you have sworn.' 34 But I say to you, Do not take an oath at all, either by heaven, for it is the throne of God, 35 or by the earth, for it is his footstool, or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. 36 And do not take an oath by your head, for you cannot make one hair white or black. 37 Let what you say be simply 'Yes' or 'No'; anything more than this comes from evil.

Cultivating Patience with One Another
Tuesday Jan 11, 2022
Tuesday Jan 11, 2022
If someone were to ask your family if you were a patient person, what would their response be? I want to consider myself a patient person, but I'm not sure what my family would say, especially when I'm under stress or when things aren't working out on my timetable.
Are we patient with our children when they come to us with questions and requests at the most seemingly inconvenient times? How about difficult people in our lives? Or people who respond impatiently to us?

Divorce and Remarriage (Matthew 5:31-32 - Sermon on the Mount Series)
Tuesday Dec 28, 2021
Tuesday Dec 28, 2021
I know many of our lives have been affected by divorce, and it is a sensitive subject. There is much hurt and pain in many of your lives still by divorce, so my desire isn't to cause you any more hurt—so please know my heart here before we start to dig in. I always want to be biblical, and the question that we're answering in all these episodes is to be, "What does God's Word say?"
Our text today is Matthew 5:31-31: and Jesus continues in it with His - "it was said" statements but "I say to you":
31 "It was also said, 'Whoever divorces his wife, let him give her a certificate of divorce.' 32 But I say to you that everyone who divorces his wife, except on the ground of sexual immorality, makes her commit adultery, and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.
From the beginning—from the creation of Adam and Eve in the garden— God's design was that marriage was to be a permanent covenant.

BITESIZE: Dealing with Controversy as a Christian
Monday Dec 13, 2021
Monday Dec 13, 2021
As Christians who live in a world that denies absolute truth, we are going to run into controversy. Controversy is an area we need to learn to deal with in a God-honoring way when there are issues inside and outside our churches that need to be addressed.

Dealing with Adulterous Hearts (Matthew 5:27-30 - Sermon on the Mount Series)
Tuesday Nov 23, 2021
Tuesday Nov 23, 2021
We live in a culture today that is obsessed with sex and sensuality. From tv ads, magazines at grocery store checkouts, perfume ads, images of women in their undergarments in store windows, to the songs on the radio that glamorize infidelity—how is it possible to live a life of purity in such a society?
Our text in today's episode is Matthew 5:27-30:27 "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall not commit adultery.' 28 But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29 If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell. 30 And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body go into hell.
Adultery always first begins in the mind. In Matthew 5:28, Jesus has laid out to the Pharisees here and us that sexual purity doesn't just involve the physical act of indulging in sex outside marriage, but he gets to the heart of the matter.
Sexual sin begins in our hearts, and we need to radically do some major surgery to live a life of purity in the world we find ourselves in today.

Being Keepers of Our Homes
Tuesday Nov 09, 2021
Tuesday Nov 09, 2021
One of the ways we adorn the gospel (as it states in Titus 2:10) or make it beautiful is by the care and keeping of our homes. We have been given the responsibility, as Christian women, to the care and management of our homes.
In this episode, the hope in our time together is that we capture the reality of God's hand in every aspect of our lives as workers at home. There is purpose ladies being worked out in our normal day-to-day life. God is always at work behind the scenes.

The Sin of Anger (Matthew 5:21-26 - Sermon on the Mount Series)
Tuesday Oct 26, 2021
Tuesday Oct 26, 2021
Are we always mindful as we think of our sinful anger, even though it doesn't lead to physically murdering someone, is committing murder against another person in our heart, and will also be judged by the Lord?
One commentator stated: "We would learn that we actually do worse things than these if we could only see our hearts as God is able to see them."
We are all murderers. Have you ever lost your temper, harbored a grudge against someone, gossiped, neglected their needs, spoke unkindly about them or to them, or have you been jealous?
We can destroy others in our thoughts and with our words, and as those who profess to be known and loved by Jesus, this should not be.

Jesus, the Law and the Christian (Matthew 5:17-20 - Sermon on the Mount Series)
Tuesday Sep 21, 2021
Tuesday Sep 21, 2021
Jesus did not come to do away with the Law—He came to fulfill it. As we continue on in our series on the Sermon on the Mount we will see how Christ fulfills the scriptures and what place the law has in our lives as His followers
Our text today is Matthew 5:17-20:"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18 For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished. 19 Therefore whoever relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
